SIAD Trophy – Bombola d’Oro, regatta organized by Yacht Club Italiano since 1996, is already one of the classics of the sailing season. An appointment not to be missed by enthusiasts of a class rich in fascination like the 12' Dinghy but also by all lovers of sailing.

Merit of a prestigious Club, of Portofino, - splendid setting of this event - but above all of the air that one breathes at the Golden Cylinder: a stimulating mixture of competitive spirit and the pleasure of being together.
The SIAD Trophy – Bombola d’Oro is in fact a little special. It is a difficult regatta that requires preparation and technical ability and that succeeds in combining this with the pleasure of sailing with friends, always ready to help in cases of difficulty and to share experience and emotions. Probably also the merit of a boat, the 12' Dinghy that, designed in 1913, is nearly 100-year-old and that during its history has succeeded in keeping its fascination intact and in protecting its tradition from the assault of the most advanced technology.
But the real merit for the success of the SIAD Trophy – Bombola d’Oro lies above all with those who have brought about this event in thinking of a great occasion for meeting and friendship and which since several years has also welcomed yachtsmen from outside of Italy.
The "Bombolino", as the veterans call it affectionately, did in fact come to life from the passion for the sea of Roberto Sestini and a group of friends at Portofino. One evening in 1996, seated at the table of a restaurant, they decided to show vent to their passion and to organize a regatta, open to all, and where they could compete with friends; not only to see who was the best but above all to share the same love for sailing and for the sea.
From this simple and fascinating idea, a regatta was created and that is now a classic of the sailing season, not limited to Italy.
