Degassing of molten aluminium

When aluminium is in a liquid state, it is hungry to absorb gaseous H2 which, during solidification, generates small pores due to its own volume. Obviously, these imperfections are not appreciated by its users who require an H2 gas removal operation be carried out on the molten mass. Argon comes into play here as it has low solubility in the molten mass and exerts an action of stripping and encircling the H2 present in the liquid.
