Thermoregulation of chemical reactions

For the synthesis of active ingredients or chemical specialities in the chemico-pharmaceutical industry, there is growing demand, these days, to attain extremely low temperatures (down to -100°C), followed by phases when it is necessary to heat the mixture being synthesised up to +150 °C 

Being able to precisely control and maintain these temperatures not only improves the quality and purity of the finished products but, above all, guarantees greater safety when exothermic reactions are in process.

Liquid nitrogen, with a boiling point of -196 °C at atmospheric pressure, is undoubtedly the best means of attaining such low temperatures. Consequently, the most innovative thermoregulating system which guarantees the best results is one which uses a liquid refrigerant, with liquid nitrogen, with the following benefits:

  • precise temperature control;
  • absence of thermal shock;
  • possibility of using it even in glass-lined reactors;
  • great thermal capacity;
  • wide range of working temperatures using a single liquid refrigerant (–100 ÷ +150 °C).
