Why heat treatments
In heat treatments, the furnace atmosphere determines the final quality of the products. SIAD supplies gases (nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, ammonia) and plants for producing protective atmospheres, designed according to the chemical composition of the parts, the thermal cycle and the required surface characteristics.
Quality
Uniform quality of treated parts
Lower costs
Reduced production costs
Zero downtime
Operational continuity without generator downtime
SIAD supplies gases, mixtures and plants for every type of heat treatment, from continuous furnaces to chamber furnaces. The specialist team designs each solution on a customized basis, improving process quality and flexibility while containing processing costs.
It is the reference gas for synthetic protective atmospheres. Used pure or mixed with hydrogen, it is employed in the annealing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, sintering, brazing, vacuum furnaces and autoclave pressurization. It also ensures furnace purging at the beginning and end of the cycle, as well as during emergency phases, guaranteeing cycle safety.
It is used in vacuum furnaces for materials sensitive to nitrogen, such as titanium. It provides completely inert protection in thermal cycles where nitrogen may react with the treated metal, preventing contamination and preserving component properties.
It is also used in special Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) processes, where SIAD can supply pressurized gas and the gas chromatography system for controlling gas and atmosphere quality during the various process phases. The gas analysis system is produced by Pentatec, part of the SIAD Group, and supplied turnkey.
It is the active component of nitrogen-hydrogen synthetic atmospheres for bright annealing, sintering and brazing. Its reducing function protects surfaces from oxidation, keeping parts clean and free from soot.
In sub-zero treatment of carbon steels, it completes the transformation of the austenitic phase into martensite, which is harder and more resistant. Cryogenic treatment increases hardness and improves dimensional stability. It is also used in shrink fitting to assemble parts with tight tolerances.
