Ozone is an oxidizing agent used to remove organic or metallic contaminants and as a sterilizing agent for microorganisms.
Given its unique properties, ozone plays a central role in the treatment of industrial wastewater.

Why choose ozone for drinking water and wastewater treatment
SIAD has studied and applied ozone to water treatment since the early 1990s, integrating laboratory research, industrial ozonizers and proprietary dosing systems. One of the most powerful natural oxidants, second only to fluorine, ozone acts with rapid kinetics and fully converts back into oxygen, leaving no persistent residues in drinking water, municipal and industrial wastewater, and sludge.

SIAD covers the entire ozone value chain for water treatment: from on-site production starting from O₂, to the high-efficiency MIXFLO3 reactor, through to ozonolysis applications on the water line and sludge line. All supported by the Environmental Biology and Chemistry Laboratory.
Ozone is the traditional benchmark for drinking water treatment. It removes organic and metallic pollutants such as iron and manganese and acts as a biocide with a high disinfection rate, independently of pH and ammonia, without generating the harmful substances typical of chlorine.
In finishing processes at municipal, industrial and consortium wastewater treatment plants, ozone breaks down emerging micropollutants of pharmaceutical and cosmetic origin, refractory COD, colors and complex compounds. SIAD has also consolidated its know-how through the PerFORM Water 2030 programme.
SIAD collaborates with leading ozonizer manufacturers for on-site ozone production from oxygen, with concentrations of 6-15% by weight and specific consumption of 6.5-13 kWh/kg O₃. Capacity ranges from a few grams/hour up to 200 kg/h, depending on the process.
