Why laser cutting
In laser cutting, assist gas plays a fundamental role in making full use of the technology’s potential. Depending on the material being processed, it promotes the exothermic reaction with the metal, expels molten material from the kerf, protects the lens from spatter and fumes, and cools the cut edges. Choosing the correct purity and pressure is crucial for edge quality, processing speed, and plant longevity.

SIAD offers assist gases selected according to the material and the technique used. In combustion cutting, the gas promotes the exothermic reaction and increases processing speed. In fusion cutting, it eliminates oxidation, protects the lens and ensures defined edges. Every material has its own gas, with purity and pressure calibrated to the process.
In the processing of stainless steels, nickel alloys, copper and aluminum, SIAD offers high-purity laserPRO nitrogen (greater than 99.999%). It does not oxidize the edges, protects the lens and keeps beam focusing conditions stable, ensuring cut quality and definition.
Used in cutting carbon and alloy structural steels, it promotes the exothermic reaction with the metal, expels molten material from the kerf and protects the lens from spatter and fumes. With purity higher than 99.95%, it enables increases in cutting speed of up to 20% compared with standard-purity oxygen.
In CO₂ laser sources, the beam is generated by a gas mixture composed of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and helium, whose balance is essential to ensure performance and stability. SIAD can supply both ready-to-use premixed laser mixtures and the individual high-purity components (helium, nitrogen and CO₂) in separate cylinders for cutting systems equipped with a mixer.
Rofin Sinar sources use a high-purity premixed blend developed to maximize reliability and beam quality. In addition to the main components (CO₂, N₂ and He), this mixture includes further gases in controlled percentages—such as carbon monoxide, oxygen and xenon—to optimize energy efficiency, discharge stability and the service life of optical components. SIAD is one of the few authorized producers in Italy.
Flexigas is the service that guarantees continuous availability of high-quality gas, adaptable to the consumption of the production process. Mobile cryogenic containers deliver a greater quantity of gas in the same footprint as a cylinder pack, with maintenance included and automatic reordering.
